Introduction

This page has been set-up on a temporary basis to provide pointers to some long established online readings in anthropology that have become unavailable due to a server crash that cannot be fully re-established until after the lockdown. Happily there are copies available on the Internet Archive (though some of these are not complete I am sad to say) so the following listings now point to those copies. When original versions are restored the links will be updated
Younger readers might need reminding of how long ago these resources were made. The formatting is not what would be done if one was starting today. Nonetheless they are readable and provide a signficant set of freely avaialble online readings.

CSAC Monographs

CSAC Monographs was a series produced by the Centre for Social Anthropology and Computing, University of Kent, which aims to make available specialist material in social anthropology and sociology at the lowest possible cost. Production and distribution costs will be kept to a minimum by the use of up-to-date information technology and direct mailing. The intention was to expand the series as rapidly as possible, and we are willing to consider a wide variety of material including: unpublished dissertations which are still of current interest; edited collections based on conferences and symposia; new editions of important work currently unavailable; and monographs which because of their unusual length or specialist nature are not considered commercially viable by conventional publishers.

This is the original list: some are available only with sample chapters, others not at all (yet)
