There is not a large literature on the history of veterans from
Cameroon who served in World War II (1939-1945). However, although
sometimes forgotten and misunderstood, these soldiers have left traces
of their military heritage and can be restored from war archives. This
article presents the military heritage and war archives of Moussa
Guider, a veteran who served as a volunteer for Free France. Thereafter,
his journey as a combatant in the Free French Forces, his contribution
in this army, his medals and ribbons, allow us to write an important
part of military history in Cameroon. This article contributes to the
duty of memory and war remembrance of Cameroonian veterans of the Second
World War. It also contributes to the Cameroonian and French military
literature in International Relations.
